How Watches Are Tested: Visual, Functional & Timekeeping Tests
This guide explains what we check and how we show it to you. It focuses on transparency, practical limits, and QC confirmation.
QC transparency principle: “What you see is what you receive.”
We use real photos, and video when feasible.
Testing Goals and Disclosure Rules
Testing aims to confirm stable function and visible build quality. We communicate based on real batches and known limits.
We do not exaggerate performance or hide drawbacks. If we are unsure, we do not make claims.
QC Workflow: From Inspection to Shipment
QC is part of the ordering process. Shipment happens after customer QC confirmation.
Core QC Steps
- Factory initial inspection.
- Inbound re-check after stock preparation.
- Movement power test and timekeeping test.
- Visual inspection of case, dial, and alignment.
- Bracelet and clasp structure check.
- Lume check when applicable.
- QC photos or video capture.
- Customer confirmation before shipping.
Visual Tests: What We Inspect
Visual tests focus on defects and alignment. We check consistency and obvious issues.
Appearance Checklist
- Case defects, gaps, and deep scratches.
- Dial print position and print thickness.
- Index alignment and hand alignment.
- Date window alignment issues.
- Bezel engraving depth and angle, when applicable.
- Bracelet tightness and fit at the lugs.
- Clasp structure stability.
- Lume fill and uniformity, when applicable.
What Triggers Interception
- Severe index misalignment.
- Obvious date alignment issues.
- Deep case scratches.
- Abnormal movement power behavior.
Functional Tests: What We Verify
Functional tests focus on stable operation. They also confirm basic adjustment behavior.
Function Checklist
- Winding efficiency check.
- Seconds-hand smoothness check.
- Power reserve behavior check.
- Date alignment check and basic date function check.
- General hand alignment confirmation.
- Function demonstration when applicable.
Customer rights: You can ask for details and extra QC shots.
We keep the process evidence-based and transparent.
Timekeeping Tests: How We Explain Results
Mechanical watches have normal deviation ranges. Deviation relates to movement structure and wearing habits.
We present results as practical checks. We do not promise unrealistic precision.
Timekeeping-Related Checks
- Timekeeping deviation check.
- Movement power behavior check.
- Balance activity shown in video when feasible.
QC Media: Photos and Video You Receive
Each watch is photographed individually. We do not use AI, renders, or heavy filters.
QC Photo Coverage
- Front view.
- Back view.
- Clasp view.
- Bracelet side views.
- Lume photo when applicable.
QC Video Coverage
- One-take appearance video when feasible.
- Timekeeping and movement running display when feasible.
- Function demonstrations when feasible.
Limits and Risk Disclosure
Water resistance is for daily splashes only. Avoid showers, steam environments, swimming, seawater, and saunas.
Batch differences can exist. If identified, we disclose them in advance.
Optional service: Paid enhanced sealing test is available.
Professional pressure test results can be provided for this service.
What Happens If an Issue Is Found
If a watch fails key checks, we intercept it. We prioritize stable batches and visible defect control.
After delivery, responsibility is evidence-based. Clear photos or videos may be required for decisions.
